MANCHESTER – Did you miss Saturday’s post-fight news conference for UFC Fight Night 30? Check out a video replay of the media event.
UFC Fight Night 30 took place at Phones4u Arena in Manchester, England. In the FOX Sports 2-televised main event, former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida (20-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) dropped to middleweight for the first time and stopped friend and sometimes training partner Mark Munoz (13-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC) with a head kick knockout in the first round.
The co-main event saw controversy, however, when Melvin Guillard (31-12-2 MMA, 12-8 UFC) hit Ross Pearson (15-6 MMA, 7-3 UFC) with a pair of illegal knees. The knees were deemed accidental, and UFC President Dana White told MMAjunkie.com after the fight the referee was going to take a point away from Guillard and the fight was going to continue – but the cage side doctor said a cut opened up on Pearson’s head from the second knee was too big for him to go on. The fight ended in a no-contest.
