Reese Replaces Vallie-Flagg, Gets Green at Strikeforce Challengers 20

James Reese (pictured) will step up on short notice to face Bobby Green at Strikeforce Challengers 20, promotion officials announced Tuesday. Reese replaces an injured Isaac Vallie-Flagg, who withdrew from the Nov. 18 event last week due to injury.

Headlined by a middleweight showdown between Antwain Britt and Lumumba Sayers, Strikeforce Challengers 20 goes down at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Broadcast on Showtime, the evening's main draw will also feature a women’s scrap between 145-pound standouts Julia Budd and 2008 Olympic judo bronze medalist Ronda Rousey, as well as a 185-pound confrontation pitting unbeaten prospect Derek Brunson against Nate James.

Reese rides a three-fight win streak heading into his bout with Green. The once-beaten American Top Team representative is a two-time Bellator Fighting Championships veteran, earning wins in both of his appearances for the Chicago-based promotion. Reese most recently competed on Sept. 17, taking home a unanimous decision over Martin Brown at Bellator 50.

Formerly King of the Cage's 155- and 160-pound champion, Green was defeated by Gesias Cavalcante via split decision on July 30. The 25-year-old rebounded from the loss, however, submitting Charon Spain with an arm-triangle in his sophomore Strikeforce effort at Challengers 19.
