Raquel Pennington surely hopes that her third opponent for UFC 191, Jessica Andrade, is also her final opponent for UFC 191.
UFC officials on Wednesday announced that Andrade had agreed to the short-notice bout after Pennington’s first two opponents both had to withdraw due to injury. With just two-and-a-half weeks until the Sept. 5 fight in Las Vegas, it was a big ask, but Andrade answered the call when Liz Carmouche and Leslie Smith both were bitten by the injury bug.
Pennington’s record is 5-5 overall and 2-2 since emerging from The Ultimate Fighter to make her way into the Octagon. She enters the fight with Andrade coming off of a loss to Holly Holm at UFC 184 earlier this year.
Andrade (13-4), however, accepted a quick return to fight Pennington after having won a unanimous decision over Sarah Moras on July 15 in San Diego. She’s looking to pick up where she left off when Marion Reneau put an end to her three-fight winning streak earlier this year.
