Rad Martinez, Shahbulat Shamhalaev Cleared for Featherweight Final at Bellator 83



Bellator’s Season 7 featherweight tournament final will move forward as planned on Friday night, as both Rad Martinez and Shahbulat Shamhalaev were given the green light at Thursday’s Bellator 83 weigh-ins.

Martinez checked in at 145.5 pounds, while Shamhalaev tipped the scales at an even 146. Bellator 83 takes place Dec. 7 from Caesars Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., and will also see women’s 115-pound champion Zoila Frausto Gurgel (124.5) square off with Jessica Eye (124.5) in a flyweight affair.

Rounding out the main card action on MTV2, former bantamweight champion Zach Makovsky (135.5) will return to the cage for the first time since relinquishing his belt to current titlist Eduardo Dantas last April, as “Fun Size” squares off with former Strikeforce and WEC talent Anthony Leone (136).

The preliminary card streams live on Spike.com just prior to the main card broadcast, and features six fights in total: David Harris (135.5) vs. Claudio Ledesma (135.5), Tuan Pham (128)* vs. Matthew Lozano (125), Chris Liguori (156) vs. Darrell Horcher (156), Brylan Van Artsdalen (145) vs. Terrell Hobbs (145.5), Jesse Brock (135.5) vs. Jimmie Rivera (136) and Mike Wessel (263) vs. Alexei Kudin (237).
