Piotr Hallmann and Yves Edwards Verbally Agree to UFC 173 Bout

Yves EdwardsLightweights Yves Edwards and Piotr Hallmann have verbally agreed to fight at UFC 173. UFC officials announced the match-up on Monday.

Edwards (42-20-1, 1 NC) is a UFC veteran with 19 fights inside the octagon. He suffered a knockout loss to Yancy Medeiros in his last outing, but the fight was later ruled a No Contest after Medeiros tested positive to a banned substance following the fight. The 37-year-old went winless in 2013.

Hallmann (14-2) made his UFC debut in September 2013, defeating Francisco Trinaldo by submission. He lost a unanimous decision to Al Iaquinta in his last outing on Oct. 26, 2013.

UFC 173 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 24. Middleweight champion Chris Weidman puts his title on the line against former light heavyweight titleholder Lyoto Machida in the main event.
