The much anticipated and hyped fight between UFC lightweight champion, B.J. Penn, and UFC welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre, is most likely to be put back till February next year, headlining the promotions annual Superbowl weekend show.

Speaking with mmanews.com, Penn’s brother, J.D. Penn, confirmed that B.J. was back in the gym and training, and although looking for a December fight, feels it’s highly unlikely due to St. Pierre wanting to take some time off until next year, following his five round war at UFC 87 against Jon Fitch.

This could very well leave the door open for a super fight between Chuck Liddell and UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, or the first defence of Forrest Griffin’s newly won light heavyweight champion.
