Pending Medical Clearance, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones vs. Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson Headlines UFC 135 in Denver

Jon ‘Bones’ Jones will headline UFC 135 in Denver, Colo on Sept 24 against Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson assuming he gets final clearance from his doctors.

The UFC’s top light heavyweight has been sidelined dealing with a torn ligament in his thumb that has been a recurring injury, but opted out of surgery and had a hard cast on his hand for the past few weeks.

The cast is about to come off and assuming he’s given medical clearance by his physicians, UFC President Dana White states he will be fighting on the UFC 135 card.

“Yes. That is the date he will headline on,” White answered when speaking to MMAWeekly.com on Thursday.

This is still pending doctor’s approval according to White, which is why they have not started to promote any fight yet because there is still an unknown factor at work until then.

“I still can’t announce Jon Jones’ fight until the doctor says Jon Jones’ hand is 100%, and he starts punching with it and it’s 100% true,” White stated.

As far as opponents, White confirmed that Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson will be the choice to face Jones on the Sept 24 card answering ‘yes’ when asked if Jones vs. Jackson was the headliner.

Jones is expected to visit his doctor in the coming days to have the hard cast removed from his hand and then find out if he can be cleared to return to action.
