One FC 9 Rise to Power Weigh-in Results: Honorario Banario vs. Koji Oishi Title Fight Official

Honorio Banario vs Koji Oishi One FC 9Four fighters missed weight ahead of Friday’s ONE FC: Rise to Power in Manila, but after some last-minute negotiations, all 10 fights are good to go.

The worst offender was Ryan Diaz, who is coming off of a two-year absence from competition. He was initially 5 kilograms (11 pounds) overweight ahead of his bantamweight bout with Yusup Saadulaev.

The other fighters who missed weight did so by much smaller margins. They were Tim Sylvia, Lowen Tynanes and Andrew Leone. ONE FC hasn’t release any specifics at the time of writing in terms of what the penalties would be for the fighters who failed to make weight, but all will have money deducted from their purses. All of their bouts will now be conducted at an agreed upon catchweight.

Saadulaev has lost his last two fights and was reportedly reluctant to risk a third straight defeat by taking on an opponent who came in at slightly over the featherweight limit, but with 20,000 fans expected to fill the SM Mall of Asia Arena tomorrow night, he agreed to go ahead with the bout in order to allow ONE FC to keep the full ten-fight card.

The main event sees Honorio Banario defend his ONE FC featherweight title for the first time against Koji Oishi. The Filipino tipped the scales at 65.75 kg, while his Japanese foe came in at 65.8 kg.

Afterwards Banario addressed the Filipino fans in Tagalog telling them, “Please come and support me tomorrow night, I have been training hard and I will win this fight for the people of the Philippines.”

In the co-main event, Bibiano Fernandes, who is looking to add the ONE FC interim bantamweight belt to a collection that already included the Dream bantamweight and featherweight titles, weighed in at 61.1 kg, as did his opponent Koetsu Okazaki.

It is worth noting that ONE FC rules differ slightly from those of other organizations in that there is no allowance, meaning that fighters must come in at or below the exact agreed upon weight.  The weight limits also vary slightly from those traditionally used in the West because ONE FC uses the metric system.
