One FC 6 to Feature Shinya Aoki-Arnaud Lepont, 3 Title Fights on Oct. 6

Former Dream lightweight champion Shinya Aoki will make his One Fighting Championship debut a little later than expected, as the submission ace will take on French standout Arnaud Lepont at One FC 6 “Rise of Kings.”

Promotion officials announced the booking Wednesday and also revealed that the promotion plans to crown its first three champions at the event, which takes place at the 12,000-seat Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.

Aoki had originally been expected to headline One FC 5 on Aug. 31 against a to-be-named foe but will now meet Lepont on Oct. 6. The fighters and weight classes featured in the title bouts are to-be-announced.

Aoki, 29, recently saw a seven-fight winning streak snapped when he ventured stateside for a rematch with Eddie Alvarez at Bellator 66. Alvarez avenged his 2008 submission defeat to “Tobikan Judan” at the April 20 event, battering Aoki with punches to earn the victory in just 2:14. Aoki owns 19 of his 30 career victories by submission and holds notable career wins over Caol Uno, Vitor Ribeiro, Joachim Hansen and Alvarez, among others.

Lepont has won six straight fights heading into his showdown with Aoki. “The Game” made his One FC debut in June, finishing Brian Choi with a third-round rear-naked choke at “Destiny of Warriors.” Lepont has been beaten just once as a pro, falling to countryman Samuel Judes by submission in 2008. The lightweight has submitted all but two of his nine career victims and has gone the distance only once in his five years as a pro.
