WEC veteran Casey Olson will return to the cage after nearly two years on the shelf, dropping to bantamweight to take on Cody Gibson in the main event of Tachi Palace Fights 12.

Tachi Palace Entertainment Coordinator Jeremy Luchau notified Sherdog.com of the development on Friday. TPF 12 takes place March 9 at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif. “Second Coming” will also feature a featherweight title defense from Georgi Karakhanyan, as “Insane” squares off with Micah Miller.

A winner in six of his last seven outings, Olson is a Strikeforce and Palace Fighting Championship veteran. Known as “The Underdog,” the Californian owns eight of his 13 career wins by either knockout or submission. Olson last competed in May 2010, outpointing Shawn Klarcyk at TPF 4.

Gibson, meanwhile, has been active in 2011, posting a 2-1 record this year. “The Renegade” most recently fought at TPF 11, falling by submission to Ulysses Gomez in a failed attempt to capture the vacant TPF bantamweight title. Prior to his loss to Gomez, however, Gibson notched victories over Art Becerra in May and current UFC talent Walel Watson in December.
