Ogle Injured, Holloway Now Meets McGregor at UFC on Fox Sports 1 ‘Shogun vs. Sonnen’

Andy Ogle has suffered an injury that has knocked him out of a planned featherweight showdown with Irish prospect Conor McGregor at UFC on Fox Sports 1 “Shogun vs. Sonnen.”

UFC officials announced Ogle’s withdrawal on Thursday, revealing that McGregor will now face Max Holloway at the Aug. 17 event, which takes place at the TD Garden in Boston and is headlined by a light heavyweight confrontation between onetime divisional champion Mauricio Rua and former title contender Chael Sonnen. The event coincides with the launch of Fox’s new sports network, Fox Sports 1, which will carry nine of the 12 fights on the card.

Just 21 years old, Holloway made his Octagon debut last year after beginning his career 4-0. Though “Blessed” was submitted by Dustin Poirier in his first UFC outing, the prospect rebounded with three straight wins, besting Pat Schilling, Justin Lawrence and Leonard Garcia. Holloway saw his hot streak doused in his most recent effort, however, when he dropped a split decision to Dennis Bermudez on May 25 at UFC 160.

McGregor, 24, has not lost since November 2010 and currently rides a nine-fight winning streak into his sophomore UFC effort. The Irishman captured the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship featherweight and lightweight titles before signing with the UFC earlier this year. McGregor made a successful Octagon foray this past April at UFC on Fuel TV 9, knocking out “Ultimate Fighter 14” alum Marcus Brimage in just 67 seconds.
