Nine Superfights Headline Grapplers Quest at UFC Fan Expo, Including Jim Miller vs. Cole Miller


Jim Miller UFCThe Ultimate Fighting Championship on Monday announced the Official Superfights for Grapplers Quest, the official grappling tournament at the UFC Fan Expo on Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The two-day tournament will feature adult No-Gi submission grappling divisions for Adults on Friday, July 5. Then, on Saturday, July 6, the tournament will feature all-youth No-Gi grappling and all-adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo Divisions.

The Superfights will feature Grapplers Quest’s new 10-minute Submission Only rules with a five-minute overtime, if necessary, using Grapplers Quest points.

The much anticipated event features nine blockbuster superfights, including a four-man Pro Tournament.

The Grapplers Quest Superfights include UFC lightweight contender Jim Miller challenging The Ultimate Fighter season five contestant and active UFC fighter Cole Miller in a Submission Only battle.

John Dodson, winner of The Ultimate Fighter season 14, will be challenging Scott Jorgensen in what promises to be a fast-paced Submission Only match.

Four-time Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and UFC/WEC veteran Fredson Paixao will challenge defending Superfight Champion Jeff Glover of Santa Barbara, California’s Paragon Jiu-Jitsu.

UFC veteran and local Las Vegas favorite Javier Torres of Gracie Humaita under Mica Cipili will be taking on Marcelo “Lapella” Mafra of CheckMat and the head instructor for Ultimate Fighter season two winner Joe “Daddy” Stevenson.

UFC veteran Ulysses “Useless” Gomez challenges Kristian Woodmansee, an instructor from Robert Drysdale’s gym in Las Vegas.

In the only female Superfight of the Grapplers Quest at UFC Fan Expo, fan favorite Tracey Goodell Fowler, well-respected black belt and the wife of world-renowned Mike Fowler, will challenge MMA fighter from Syndicate Gym Amanda Lucas (5-1 MMA record) of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Finally, A four-man “Ultimate Grappler” superfight tournament will feature some of the world’s top professional grapplers, including Dean Lister (2011 ADCC World Champion), Joao Assis (2012 IBJJF World Champion), Ricardo “Demente” Abreu (2011 World Pro Cup Black Belt Champion) and Kyle Griffin (Oklahoma State Wrestler and Pro MMA Fighter), with official alternate Bruno Bastos (3-Time World Cup Champion).  On Friday, Dean Lister faces Kyle Griffin and Joao Assis challenges Ricardo Abreu in the first round of the tournament.
