'Night Queen' Replaces Ishikawa, Meets Chavez on Invicta FC 2 Undercard

The Invicta Fighting Championships second effort has seen a small change occur to its undercard, as atomweight Kikuyo Ishikawa has withdrawn from her meeting with Angelica Chavez due to undisclosed reasons.

Stepping up to replace the Jewels veteran will be American Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc, promotion officials announced Wednesday. Invicta FC 2 is headlined by a bantamweight confrontation between former Olympic freestyle wrestling silver medalist Sara McMann and Josh Barnett protege Shayna Baszler. The event takes place July 28 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., and is expected to stream live on InvictaFC.com.

Known as “The Night Queen,” Rivera-Calanoc rides back-to-back losses heading into her second Invicta appearance. The 27-year-old last competed at Invicta's debut event in April, submitting to Amy Davis' second-round kimura. Rivera-Calanoc fought just once in 2011, dropping a decision to Felice Herrig 13 months ago at XFO 39.

Chavez, 24, suffered the lone loss of her brief pro career in her most recent outing, dropping a split decision to Diana Rael this past August. Prior to that defeat, “South Valley's Own” had finished each of her first four opponents by submission, allowing just one of her victims to escape the first round.
