Nam Phan steps in to replace injured Eddie Yagin against Dennis Siver at UFC on Fox 5.

UFC officials announced the change on Wednesday.

Phan requested the fight through Twitter after the announcement came that Yagin was out of the match with Siver.

“if1azn brother falls than another must take his spot. Who wants 2 c me fight Dennis Siver? tweet 2 @ufc & @danawhite lol :) ,” Phan tweeted on Tuesday night.

UFC matchmakers granted the fight and Phan took to Twitter to voice his excitement.

“YEAH !!!!! we DID IT !!! big thanks to @danawhite & @seanshelby 4 making this fight happen.  i LOVE the @ufc, WHERE UR VOICE IS HEARD,”  Phan tweeted today.

Yagin was forced out of the bout due to swelling around his brain following a training session on Saturday. He was hospitalized on Sunday.  His manager, Jason House, broke the news to MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday.

“He came home after practice (on Sunday), had a headache, started to vomit whatever liquids he drank and then decided to go to the ER the next day,” said House.

The swelling is expected to go down on its own, but Yagin’s fighting future remains up in the air until further tests are concluded.
