Michael Bisping Must Pass Final Eye Exam on Thursday to Clear UFC Bout with Tim Kennedy

Michael Bisping Detached RetinaMichael Bisping confirmed to UFC Tonight on Wednesday that he has been offered and accepted a fight with Tim Kennedy on April 16. He also confirmed, however, that the bout is contingent upon him passing an eye exam.

Bisping suffered a detached retina in his right eye while preparing to face Mark Munoz in a bout planned for last October. It’s a reoccurring injury that he first suffered in his UFC 159 fight with Alan Belcher.

According to UFC Tonight, Bisping has developed a cataract in the eye, so UFC officials are being a little extra cautious before allowing him back into the Octagon.

Although Bisping was greenlit by doctors to return to training, the UFC wants him to get further eye tests done on Thursday in London to be sure his depth perception and peripheral vision are up to snuff for fighting.

If he passes the final testing on Thursday, Bisping will be stepping into the Octagon opposite Kennedy, although Luke Rockhold is reportedly making a last-ditch effort to try and snake the Bisping fight from Kennedy.
