McGregor says Miller 'was under the influence,' promises to smash Miller, Swanson, Mendes, Aldo

Whether or not Conor McGregor‘s knee is at full strength remains to be seen. His mouth, well that’s a different story.

McGregor (14-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC), who was a guest on Wednesday’s new edition of “UFC Tonight,” was today officially announced as the headliner of this summer’s UFC Fight Night 46 event, where he’ll meet Cole Miller (21-8 MMA, 10-6 UFC) in a bout for which “Magrinho” openly campaigned following his January win over Sam Sicilia.

McGregor thinks that was a terrible mistake.

“That man opened his mouth,” McGregor said. “He was under the influence of post-fight adrenaline. It has the same affect as alcohol. It makes you brave. He spoke with bravery, but guess what happened? It wore off. Now he’s faced with the reality that he’s going to face me July 19.

“Me coming back from this injury is a man possessed. I’m going to go in there, and I’m going to break him in the very first exchange.”

McGregor is a brash 25-year-old Irishman whose fighting skills and unabashed braggadocio have taken the UFC by storm despite just two appearances in the promotion thus far. In his most recent appearance, a decision win over fellow youngster Max Holloway, McGrgor tore his ACL and was forced on the sidelines for what we’ll prove to be almost one full year.

However, he was recently cleared to resume his fighting career, and with the new bout booked, he says he’s done talking about his time away from the sport.

“The knee to me is a distant memory,” McGregor said. “I’m done talking about the knee. I’ve spoke about it a long, long time. I am done now. I got the all-clear, and somebody is going to pay. First in line is Cole Miller, July 19 in my hometown in Dublin.

“He’s slow. He’s scared. I’m fast. I’m fearless. It’s no contest. The first exchange I’m going to break him.”

McGregor, who before his time in the octagon was both the lightweight and featherweight champ at Cage Warriors, currently boasts a 10-fight win streak. He’s got a penchant for tailored suits, a willingness to talk trash, and if you believe his words, he’s destined to hold the UFC’s featherweight title.

If all goes according to plan, Miller is just the next step. Then it’s on to Cub Swanson, Chad Mendes and yes, even current champ Jose Aldo.

“I’ve been listening to everybody calling me out and saying this and saying that, and I’ve been forced to sit on the sideline,” McGregor said. “Now I’m back. Now I’m going to rip through him. I’m going to stomp Cole. Whoever’s next – Cub? I’ll break Cub. I’ll embarrass Chad. I’ll annihilate Jose.

“I’m coming to take over the division. It’s my division.”
