Bellator Fighting Championships’ sixth season will not begin on March 2 as originally anticipated. Instead, the season will kick off March 9 from The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind.

Promotion officials announced the change on Friday, but the reason for the switch was not disclosed. Previously thought to be Bellator 61, the March 9 show will now serve as Bellator 60 due to the March 2 event date being scrapped.

The main draw is now set for Bellator 60, as the promotion recently announced that Joe Warren will defend his featherweight title against Pat Curran on MTV2 and EPIX. The main event will follow the broadcast of all four Season 6 featherweight tournament quarterfinals.

Sherdog.com has additionally confirmed with a source close to the fighter that former UFC talent Sean McCorkle has signed to compete on the evening’s undercard, which streams live on Spike.com. “Big Sexy” is expected to fight three-year pro Richard White, though the status of White’s contract is currently unknown.

McCorkle, 35, has won three straight fights since exiting the UFC after back-to-back Octagon losses. The heavyweight has made quick work of his last three victims, stopping each of them in under two minutes. Most recently, the Hoosier submitted Justin Grizzard with a kimura on Oct. 15. McCorkle is slated to compete again in just over one week, as he meets Mike Gordon in the North American Allied Fight Series on Jan. 28.
