Matt Brown has some rash words for UFC on FOX 12 viewers who believe he faked a low blow this past weekend at UFC on FOX 12.
Brown(21-12 MMA, 12-6 UFC), who ultimately suffered a unanimous-decision loss to fellow welterweight contender Robbie Lawler (24-10 MMA, 9-4 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC on FOX 12 headliner, got a brief timeout in the third round of the network-televised bout.
When Lawler connected on a kick, Brown complained that it was a low blow. While referee John McCarthy halted the action at San Jose’ SAP Center for the apparent accidental groin shot, replays suggested it may have landed legally to the midsection.
Brown, though, contends that wasn’t the case. As he posted on Facebook:
The fight, which served as a title-eliminator and earned Lawler another shot at champ Johny Hendricks, quickly recommenced, and Lawler pulled ahead to get the judges’ nod via 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47 scores. (Check out the Lawler vs. Brown video highlights.)
While the third-round kick was a source of contention among fans, Lawler and Brown were nothing but complimentary the day after the fight.
As Lawler wrote on Twitter:
Congrats @IamTheImmortal on one heck of a fight.!! I have so much respect for you.—

It was a sentiment shared by Brown (via Twitter):
Congrats @Ruthless_RL… Fighters like us are an endangered species. Iron sharpens iron so both our blades will cut deeper from now on.—
