Matt Brown Asks Dana White for a Title Shot Following UFC Fight Night 40 Win

Matt Brown Asks Dana White for a Title Shot Following UFC Fight Night 40 Win

UFC welterweight contender Matt Brown feels that seven straight wins should be deserving of a title shot, and he wasn't shy about telling his boss how he feels.

In an Instagram video posted by the UFC, The Immortal asks UFC President Dana White if he will be the next one to square off with welterweight champion Johny Hendricks.

"Dana...am I fighting Johny [Hendricks] next or what?" Brown asked incredulously.

White responded in a joking manner: "I don't know dude, you just got done with one, you sound like the media...You just got a bunch of money and a Harley, calm down."

Brown then simply laughed and said, "I want more money and more Harleys."

The 33-year-old brawler added another stunning come-from-behind TKO over Erick Silva in the main event of UFC Fight Night 40 last night.

Brown now joins UFC bantamweight champ Renan Barao and middleweight titleholder Chris Weidman with the second-longest active win streaks (seven) in the promotion.

Only pound-for-pound kingpin Jon Jones has rattled off more consecutive wins (11) inside the Octagon.

The Ohio native has now added five straight knockouts to his resume, though, he is still lacking a signature win over a consensus top-10 fighter.

Heading into the slugfest with Silva, Brown was ranked No. 7 in the UFC's official rankings, while his Brazilian counterpart was ranked No. 14.

Hendricks required bicep surgery after capturing the vacant welterweight strap back in March, so he will be on the shelf for several more months.

The next pivotal welterweight contest occurs at UFC 173 on May 24, when Jake "The Juggernaut" Ellenberger takes on "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler—who lost a close decision to Bigg Rigg at UFC 171.

As Brown awaits his next assignment, a title eliminator bout between the winner of Ellenberger vs. Lawler certainly sounds intriguing.
