Mateusz Strzelczyk fails medicals, today’s Cage Warriors 62 bout with Danny Roberts off

The card-shuffling for today’s Cage Warriors 62 has continued, just hours before the event.

Mateusz Strzelczyk (6-3) did not pass his pre-fight medical exam, and his 178-pound catchweight bout against Danny Roberts (9-1) has been scrapped from tonight’s card. Cage Warriors officials made the announcement Saturday morning.

The bout was slated to close out the preliminary card of the event, which takes place at Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England. The main card streams live and free here on MMAjunkie at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT (9 p.m. BST local time). Cage Warriors 62 lost its main event when Ulysses Gomez on Friday collapsed while cutting weight for his flyweight title fight against champion Neil Seery. Gomez was taken to the hospital and Cage Warriors scrapped the fight. Instead, the main event will be a 160-pound catchweight fight between Wesley Murch and Curt Warburton.

With Strzelczyk-Roberts removed from the prelims, Cage Warriors now will stream all six prelims on its Facebook page instead of a previously planned five. Bouts between Mark Connor and Shaj Haque and Paul Gregson vs. Frankie Slater go from being unaired to the Facebook portion.
