Mark Munoz: People haven't seen my best inside the octagon yet

UFC middleweight Mark Munoz discusses his UFC Fight Night: Berlin main event against Gegard Mousasi, his improved striking and Muay Thai, as well as training with Chael Sonnen at Reign Training Center.

Long-time middleweight competitor Mark Munoz is set to headline his third UFC event next month, as he is scheduled to face former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi in the UFC's highly anticipated first trip to Berlin. Both competitors are coming off losses to Lyoto Machida and will be looking to steer clear of consecutive losses in a crowded UFC roster.

Munoz spoke with MMAJunkie.com regarding his upcoming match-up, where he emphasized his opponent's touted striking game.

"Mousasi, his stand-up is amazing." Munoz explained. "He is planted, and always ready to fire. He's got power shots from both hands. His kicks are unbelievable. For an MMA guy, he has amazing striking and on the ground he's amazing too. That’s everything he has, and at the same time, he goes forward and doesn’t stop coming forward. So that is what he does best."

The 36-year-old also discussed training with Chael Sonnen, who moved his training camp to Munoz's Reign Training Center, and expressed excitement about the benefits of having the former three-time title challenger as a part of the team.

"We have history. We're managed by the same managers, and he is just an awesome guy. He's a gritty wrestler; his relentlessness and his tenacity helps him in training and it helps his training partners. I am excited to have him in the gym. I am excited to have him build up not only myself, but everyone inside the gym as well."

Apart from working on his wrestling with Sonnen, Munoz also mentioned that he was developing his Muay Thai with Alexander Palma, and is excited to unveil an evolved version of himself in May.

"For me it is about taking it to the ground - there is no secret for me. But I have been working on my striking too and my Muay Thai with [Alexander] Palma. I am super excited about just showing how I have evolved and how I have gotten better.

A lot of people haven't seen the best of myself inside the octagon yet."

UFC Fight Night: Berlin takes place May 31, 2014 at O2 World in Berlin, Germany.
