Mark Hominick Will Face Jose Aldo at UFC 129 If He Wins at UFC Fight for the Troops

Mark Hominick will have a lot on the line at next weekend’s UFC Fight for the Troops show.

Not only will he be looking for a successful return to the UFC against George Roop, but with a win, he secures his place in the co-main event of UFC 129 and a title shot against UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

“If Mark Hominick wins this fight, he gets a shot at the title with Aldo,” UFC president Dana White revealed on Tuesday. “That will be in Toronto.”

Hominick returns to the UFC on a four-fight winning streak, including his last victory over Leonard Garcia at WEC 51.

The Canadian born fighter faces George Roop in a featured bout on next weekend’s Spike TV card, with the end result proving a big payoff if he’s successful.

For Roop, the fight will be about getting a win and playing spoiler, because according to White, he’s not on the same path as Hominick with a victory.

“I don’t know, back to the drawing board,” said White when asked what happens if Hominick loses.

The bout between Hominick and Roop will go down next Saturday night in Fort Hood  in Texas at UFC Fight for the Troops.
