A middleweight bout between Marcelo Guimaraes (9-1-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Vitor Miranda (11-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC) is the latest addition to March’s UFC 197 lineup.
UFC officials announced the bout on Tuesday.
UFC 197 takes place March 5 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
The bout order hasn’t been finalized; Guimaraes vs. Miranda will likely be part of the prelims.
Guimaraes, a 32-year-old Brazilian, fights for the first time since June 2014, when he earned a split-decision victory over Andy Enz. The former Jungle Fight champion, who’s fought infrequently in recent years, made his promotional debut in 2012, when he earned a split-decision victory over Dan Stittgen. He then suffered a knockout loss to Hyun Gyu Lim before rebounding from that first career loss with the Enz victory.
He now meets Miranda, a runner-up to Antonio Carlos Junior on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3” who’s since rebounded with TKO victories over Jake Collier (which earned “Performance of the Night” honors) and Clint Hester. The 36-year-old Brazilian has 18 knockouts in 23 career wins.
