MMA Community Reacts to Alistair Overeem’s Failed Drug Test: Fan Reaction (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

By David King,

While some MMA fans might be shocked with Alistair Overeem's failed drug screen ("The Demolition man" and five other UFC heavyweights were issued a surprise drug screen after a March 27 press conference), most already had their suspicions.

With Overeem's failed drug screen, his scheduled UFC 146 bout against current heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos is in serious jeopardy. Overeem will now have to appear in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission on April 24, to explain his side of things. Given his past record with NSAC, his chances of getting licensed are slim to none, and the UFC will probably have to find a replacement for dos Santos (Frank Mir seems to be the logical choice).

Many in the MMA community reacted to the news on Twitter, voicing their opinions on Overeem and steroid use in the UFC. Some were funny, others were classy, and some were downright hypocritical. Here are some of the most interesting tweets I found about Overeem's failed drug test:

Joe Duarte (@JoeDuarteMMA): "It wasn't me, it was the horses, I swear!" - Alistair Overeem

Jason High (@KCBanditMMA): LMAO…Overeem. Almost as surprising as the Cyborg incident. *looks for sarcasm font*

Conor Heun (@ConorHeun): RT @wigerilla: Now lets not over react about Overeem's high test for testosterone. He'll reveal which part of the horse he eats case closed.

Benson Henderson (@SMOOTHone155): Surprise, surprise…RT @Rweetherley: @SMOOTHone155 What do you think about Overeem testing positive?

Victor Conte (@VictorConte): Is @danawhite more mad because Overeem tested positive or because he lied to him about it? Still trying to sort that one out.

Junior dos Santos (@junior_cigano): About what happened to Overrem I don't know anything more than you guys know and for me It's between him and the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Evan Shoman (@shomanart): 24 hours later, still shocked Overeem is using steroids.

Eddie Bravo (@eddiebravo): BS. He got set up. If he was on roids he'd be huge RT @Arthur_Vazquez overeem failed pre fight drug test. suprised?

Chael Sonnen (@sonnench): I'm shocked.. Has the body fat of a tooth brush, looks like the guy on STREET FIGHTER. My mind is blown, just blown.
