Next month’s UFC on FOX 23 lineup has three new additions.
They include middleweights Hector Lombard (34-6-1 MMA, 3-4 UFC) vs. Brad Tavares (14-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC), lightweights Joe Lauzon vs. Marcin Held, and lightweights Jason Gonzalez vs. J.C. Cottrell.
UFC officials recently unveiled the Lombard-Tavares and Gonzalez-Cottrell bouts. Lauzon and Held recently recently unveiled their fight.
UFC on FOX 23 takes place Jan. 28 at Pepsi Center in Denver. The card airs on FOX after early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Lombard is in a must-win situation following a three-fight winless streak. The 38-year-old former Bellator champion and Olympian had a win over Josh Burkman overturned due to a failed drug test and then suffered knockout losses to Neil Magny and Dan Henderson. He now meets Tavares, who looks for his third win in four fights. The 28-year-old has sandwiched decision wins over Nate Marquardt and Caio Magalhaes around a knockout loss to fast-rising contender Robert Whittaker.
