Lightweights Dennis Hallman, Thiago Tavares Face Off Aug. 11 at UFC 150

Lightweights Dennis Hallman and Thiago Tavares will likely collide on Aug. 11 at UFC 150, Sherdog.com confirmed with sources close to the bout on Friday.

While the show’s venue was not confirmed, Sherdog’s sources say the event is expected to be held in Colorado. The UFC last visited the Centennial State at UFC 135 this past September. That event saw Jon Jones successfully defend his light heavyweight championship against Quinton Jackson at the Pepsi Center in Denver, as “Bones” finished “Rampage” with a fourth-round rear-naked choke.

Hallman, 36, recently attempted to return to 155 pounds after a 10-year absence from the lightweight division, but the veteran missed weight for his Dec. 10 clash with John Makdessi at UFC 140. Formerly competing as a welterweight in his most recent run with the Las Vegas-based promotion, “Superman” decided to make the cut to 155 pounds after falling by technical knockout to Brian Ebersole this past August at UFC 133.

Tavares, 27, rides back-to-back wins heading into his showdown with the Washington native. The Brazilian rebounded from a knockout defeat to Shane Roller to start last year, finishing Spencer Fisher via technical knockout at UFC 134 in August before outpointing Sam Stout on Jan. 14 at UFC 142. Tavares owns 11 of his 17 wins by submission and has earned “Fight of the Night” honors three times in his UFC career.
