Lightweights Castillo, Volkmann Paired for UFC Live 5

A lightweight scrap between Danny Castillo and Jacob Volkmann has been greenlit for UFC Live 5, the promotion announced Wednesday.

The event takes place Aug. 14 at Bradley Center in Milwaukee and is also set to feature a lightweight contest between former WEC champion Benson Henderson and surging AMA Fight Club representative Jim Miller. Additionally, a 205-pound tilt pitting Stephan Bonnar against Karlos Vemola will likely appear on the Versus-broadcast main card.

A member of Urijah Faber’s Team Alpha Male, Castillo (Pictured) is known for his explosive wrestling in the cage. The 31-year-old debuted with WEC in 2008, falling to Donald Cerrone by armbar at WEC 34. After rebounding with three straight victories, “Last Call” suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time in his career, dropping bouts to Shane Roller and Anthony Pettis.

Castillo has looked sharp as of late, however, as the Californian rides a three-fight win streak into his showdown with Volkmann. Most recently, Castillo made a successful UFC debut in March, notching a unanimous decision over Joe Stevenson at UFC Live 3.

Also known for his wrestling, former Minnesota Golden Gopher Volkmann began his career a perfect 9-0 before dropping his 2009 UFC debut to Paulo Thiago. The 30-year-old would fall in his sophomore Octagon effort as well, succumbing to a Martin Kampmann guillotine choke. Fighting out of the famous Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, Volkmann has won his last two contests, racking up victories over Ronys Torres and Antonio McKee to bring his UFC record to an even 2-2.
