UFC 151 takes place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and is headlined by a light heavyweight title showdown between reigning champ Jon Jones and ex-Strikeforce titlist Dan Henderson. The evening’s pay-per-view broadcast will also see former welterweight title contender Josh Koscheck lock horns with Jake Ellenberger in the co-main event.
Roller (Pictured) halted a three-fight skid in his most recent Octagon appearance, riding John Alessio to a unanimous decision on July 7 at UFC 148. Prior to the victory, Roller’s standing as a UFC lightweight appeared to be jeopardy, as the World Extreme Cagefighting veteran dropped bouts to Melvin Guillard, T.J. Grant and Michael Johnson.
In contrast to his upcoming opponent, Volkmann saw a five-fight winning streak snapped when he was caught in a Paul Sass triangle-armbar submission two months ago. The UFC 146 defeat stands as Volkmann’s only loss as a lightweight and marks his first UFC loss since submitting to a Martin Kampmann guillotine choke in 2010. Prior to his setback against Sass, Volkmann had outpointed Ronys Torres, Paul Kelly, Antonio McKee, Danny Castillo and Efrain Escudero.
