The scheduled main event between Legacy featherweight champion Leonard Garcia and challenger Shane Howell was nixed at Legacy FC 29 on Friday, March 21, in Tulsa, Okla., but the show went on with Myron Dennis and Paul Buentello moving into the headlining spot.
The featherweight title fight was nixed at the last minute after Howell came down with some sort of illness and the doctors deemed it unsafe for him to fight.
With one title fight on the shelf, Dennis and Buentello battled it out for five solid rounds, leaving their fate in the hands of the judges. Dennis, who did a good job of mixing up his striking attack throughout the bout, did just enough to get the split decision nod from the judges and take home the previously vacant Legacy FC light heavyweight championship.
The Ultimate Fighter season 12 winner Jonathan Brookins made his promotional debut by submitting Cody Fuller at Legacy FC 29.
Andrew Todhunter did not take a liking to his opponent Art Parker’s apparent disregard for weight classes. Parker apparently weighed in 20 pounds overweight, and Todhunter made him pay for the disrespect by pummeling Parker and submitting him late in the first round.
