Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal will have his return to MMA postponed to September, as Roger Gracie has sustained an injury that has forced him out of their match-up at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson.

Inside MMA first reported Gracie’s withdraw and MMAWeekly.com has confirmed with sources close to the fight that the Brazilian is out of the July 30 contest will Lawal. MMAWeekly.com has also learned that Lawal’s return bout has been rescheduled for the fall season. At this time, there is no word on a replacement opponent for the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, but if Gracie’s injury heals in time, it is possible the two will still meet in September.

Lawal (7-1) last saw action against Rafael Cavalcante, losing the Strikeforce light heavyweight title at Strikeforce: Houston in August of last year. The bout was Lawal’s first title defense as the Strikeforce 205-pound champion and the only loss in his eight -fight career.

Gracie (4-0), who many consider to be one of the best jiujitsu competitors in the world, has fought sparsely since making his MMA debut in 2006, choosing to compete more in jiujitsu and grappling than mixed martial arts competition. His last outing in an MMA match was against Trevor Prangley at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg, where he impressively finished the South African in the first round of their affair.

MMAWeekly.com will continue to update readers on the situation as more information becomes available.
