It has been rumors, it has been talk, they were to fight each other at UFC 43, but now the fight between UFC pioneer Ken Shamrock (28-15-2 MMA, 14-6-2 UFC) and one of the best British MMA fighters Ian Freeman (19-7-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) is official.
The fight takes place at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster, England on July 27 under the Ultimate Cage Fighting Championship.
UFC Superfight Champion and UFC Hall of Famer Shamrock was a feared opponent at his time, his fight with Royce Gracie is one of the most memorable for all MMA fans, he submitted Bas Rutten, he fought three times with Tito Ortiz and was a coach at The Ultimate Fighter: Season 3. However “The World's Most Dangerous Man” in his last fight lost by TKO (leg injury) against Mike Bourke at King of the Cage: Platinum on November 25, 2010 in Durban, South Africa.
While British Vale Tudo champion Freeman most notable fight was against Frank Mir at UFC 38 on July 13, 2002 who the Brit won by TKO (punches) at the end of the opening round. The English MMA star also fought Andrei Arlovski at UFC 40 and Melvin Manhoef at Cage Rage 17, however he lost to both guys by KO in round one. Freeman won the Cage Rage British Light Heavyweight Title in his last fight at Cage Rage 26 on 10 May 2008 in Birmingham, England against Paul Cahoon by unanimous decision victory.
