Junior dos Santos meets Stipe Miocic in UFC 173 co-main event

Stipe Miocic said he’d welcome a fight with Junior dos Santos. He’ll find out in May if that was a good idea.

UFC 173 takes place May 24 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

UFC middleweight champ Chris Weidman meets Lyoto Machida in the evening’s main event.

UFC heavyweight Miocic recently expressed his willingness to fight dos Santos after the ex-champ respectfully called him out on MMAjunkie Radio.

“It would be a great fight; I would love it,” Miocic said in a subsequent interview with MMAjunkie Radio. “We have great styles for each other. I think it would be a hell of a fight, actually.”

Miocic (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) was flattered even to be considered by dos Santos (16-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC), who said he was moving on from the possibility of facing Alistair Overeem after the ex-Strikeforce champ said a rib injury was keeping him from fighting.

With the addition to the card, UFC 173 now includes:
