Junior Dos Santos will be the next fighter to face Cain Velasquez for the UFC heavyweight title, and as of now he’s a slight favorite over the champion.

According to BetonFighting.com’s Nick Kalikas, with the current streak that Dos Santos has been on along with Velasquez’s time off, the challenger opens ahead of the champion in the title bout that will take place later this year.

Junior Dos Santos opens in the sportsbook as a -125 favorite over Cain Velasquez who comes in as a -105 underdog.

The odds are razor close however so as the fight gets closer, the favor could switch to the champion’s side.

Velasquez is currently sidelined as he recovers from shoulder surgery, and will return in late 2011. There is no timeline for his return, but it’s likely to take place sometime in October or November.

UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem is set to return to the Octagon on September 5th when he faces Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 50, but this time something will be different. While much of his more recent U.S. run was done as part of the Blackzilians camp, now Overeem returns to the cage as part (for now) as a student of the famed duo of Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
While things clearly didn't work out Overeem in Florida with the Blackzilians, the former Strikefor more

Stipe Miocic still wants that fight with Junior dos Santos.
The Cleveland-based heavyweight had what he thought was his potential breakthrough fight when he was scheduled to meet the former UFC heavyweight champion on May 31 in Brazil.
