Junior Dos Santos will be the next fighter to face Cain Velasquez for the UFC heavyweight title, and as of now he’s a slight favorite over the champion.
According to BetonFighting.com’s Nick Kalikas, with the current streak that Dos Santos has been on along with Velasquez’s time off, the challenger opens ahead of the champion in the title bout that will take place later this year.
Junior Dos Santos opens in the sportsbook as a -125 favorite over Cain Velasquez who comes in as a -105 underdog.
The odds are razor close however so as the fight gets closer, the favor could switch to the champion’s side.
Velasquez is currently sidelined as he recovers from shoulder surgery, and will return in late 2011. There is no timeline for his return, but it’s likely to take place sometime in October or November.
