Champion boxers develop amazing skills through their focus on training to maximize their effectiveness within the rules of boxing (though admittedly, it's often not very exciting). MMA fighters have to maintain a much broader spectrum of skills, and even Dos Santos would have a tough time with top level boxers. If he really thought he could challenge for heavyweight boxing titles, then he'd be able to make a lot more money, but all the power to him if he wants to go that road. Maybe with a few years of training he could close the gap.
