17-Josh-Samman-TUF-17-Finale-wA planned UFC on Fox Sports 1: Shogun vs. Sonnen bout between Ultimate Fighter 17 runner-up Uriah Hall and Nick Ring is off.

UFC officials on Monday announced that Ring is out of the fight, but added that Hall’s fellow TUF 17 cast mate Josh Samman has already agreed to take his place.

UFC on Fox Sports 1 #1 takes place on Aug. 17 at TD Garden in Boston. It features Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Chael Sonnen in the main event, and serves as prime time launch programming for the new Fox Sports 1 network.

Hall (7-3) is the former Ring of Combat middleweight champion, making his way to the UFC via The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen. A member of Chael Sonnen’s team, Hall was a heavy favorite going into the show’s finale, but lost a split decision to teammate Kevin Gastelum.

Samman (10-2) was part of Jon Jones’ team, but lost to eventual winner Kevin Gastelum in the semifinal round of the reality series tournament. He defeated Kevin Casey at the TUF 17 Finale.
