Janousek, the fourth proposed opponent for Michael
Kuiper, has suffered an undisclosed injury and will not be able
to compete at
UFC on Fox 6.
Promotion officials revealed the news on Monday. With just five
days remaining until Saturday’s card, the preliminary bout has been
removed the event, which takes place at the United Center in
Chicago. UFC on Fox 6 is headlined by a flyweight title clash
between reigning champion Demetrious
Johnson and “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 14 winner John
Kuiper was originally scheduled to face Thiago
de Oliveira Perpetuo at this past weekend’s UFC on FX 7 until
the Brazilian withdrew from that contest due to a knee injury.
Magalhaes was tabbed as Perpetuo’s replacement on that same
card. However, Magalhaes was also forced to pull out of the
matchup, and Kuiper was then paired with Buddy
Roberts at UFC on Fox 6. Roberts would exit the proposed bout
due to illness and injury, leaving Janousek to take his place.
Kuiper is 1-1 in the Octagon, falling to Rafael
Natal in his debut before scoring a TKO victory against
Hamman at UFC 150. Janousek, a former Division II All-American
wrestler, had won eight of his nine professional bouts.
