Josh Hill Ready to Claim the Moniker of Best Canadian Bantamweight Prospect at Score FS 5

Josh Hill the Score FacebookUndefeated in his first eight fights, Canadian bantamweight “Gentleman” Josh Hill has quickly established himself as one of the premier prospects in his division.

And while he’s started out with great success, the scary thing for his opponents is that he feels he’s getting even better.

“This is the best fighter I’ve ever been right now,” said Hill.

“I’ve just been getting more fights and getting experience, and getting better every day in the training room. I feel great and feel more and more comfortable out there and am looser and that allows me to do more things that I can pull off in the practice room.”

Hill’s growth as a fighter will truly be tested in his upcoming bout, as he takes on John “Haggis Basher” Fraser in one of Canada’s most anticipated MMA fights of the year on Aug. 25 at Score FS 5 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

“It’s a match-up that people have been talking about for a really long time and they really want us to fight,” said Hill. “They have us listed as the number one and number two bantamweights that aren’t currently signed with the UFC, and I agree with that.

“I think we are the top of the division and there’s really nobody else for either of us to fight unless we are bringing in somebody else from outside the country.”

Hill told MMAWeekly.com that he has great respect for Fraser, but still feels that he has the advantage overall in their fight.

“He’s very aggressive; he’s tough as nails, can take a shot, likes to put the pressure on you, and has some really good, slick submissions,” said Hill of Fraser. “But I don’t think he’s fought anybody like me. I don’t think he’s fought anybody as good of an athlete as me, and I think that will make for a really interesting fight.”

Hill feels that if aggression is the name of the game, Fraser could be in for a bad night.

“I could use that aggression against (Fraser) and catch him coming in, or if he comes in too wild, I could drop and take him down and whatnot, or I could turn the tide on him and back him up and bully him a bit and see how he deals with it,” said Hill.

“Basically I just have to stay focused and not too flustered and just kind of wait and pick my shots and fight smart more so than fight aggressively.”

Regardless of the outcome of their Aug. 25 bout, with the excitement it should garnish, Hill insists that it will help lead him to the next level of his career.

“With this win I think I can be there for sure,” he said. “But for some reason if I don’t come out on top, then I know I’ll get there eventually if I just keep doing what I’m doing. (I’ll) just go out there and fight my fight like I’ve been doing the past three years.”
