Tyler Combs, who was set to take on Jorge Gurgel this weekend at Strikeforce: Columbus, has been forced out of the bout due to a late training injury.
Sources close to the fight confirmed Combs’ exit to MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday.
While no details of the injury have been reported, sources have confirmed that Strikeforce will try to find a replacement and that Gurgel will remain on the Columbus, Ohio, fight card Saturday night at the Nationwide Arena.
Gurgel comes into the fight after suffering a tough knockout loss to K.J. Noons in his last bout, and is looking to get back on the winning track.
Strikeforce has not made an official announcement about the switch, but it’s expected that replacement could be named at any time.
MMAWeekly.com will have more information on Gurgel’s new opponent when it becomes available.
