Two UFC welterweights seeking redemption have been added to April’s UFC on FOX 11 fight card.
UFC President Dana White confirmed that Canadian Jordan Mein (27-9 MMA, 1-1 UFC) will meet “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2? veteran Santiago Ponzinibbio(18-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at the April 19 event, which is set to take place at Amway Center in Orlando, Fla.
“Looks like a fantastic card shaping up,” Mein also tweeted. “Im geeked about this one!!”
It’s unknown whether the bout will serve on the FOX-televised main card or prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Mein’s most recent appearance brought his first octagon setback when he was pounded out by Matt Brown at UFC on FOX 7, which snapped a three-fight streak. A standout in the now-defunct Strikeforce, the 24-year-old veteran went 2-1 for the promotion before signing with the UFC.
In his UFC debut, Mein stopped vet Dan Miller in the first round at UFC 158.
Ponzinibbio, a semifinalist on the second Brazilian season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” makes his second appearance after a debut setback to Ryan LaFlare at UFC Fight Night 32, which snapped a seven-fight regional win streak.
