With Cub Swanson injured, Erik Koch has been shifted from UFC 132 to September’s UFC Battle on the Bayou where he will face ‘Ultimate Fighter’ season 12 winner Jonathan Brookins.
The UFC announced the fight on Saturday.
Brookins first announced that he would be fighting on the Sept 17 UFC Fight Night card in New Orleans when speaking with MMAWeekly.com.
“Health wise I’m good. It’s looking like I’m going to be fighting Sept 17, I look forward to that. Sept 17 in Louisiana, Battle on the Bayou,” Brookins revealed.
The fight will return Brookins to the featherweight division where he has competed before including a bout in the WEC where he lost to current champion Jose Aldo.
Since picking up a loss to Chad Mendes in his WEC debut, Erik Koch has proven to be one of the most exciting and dangerous strikers in the featherweight division.
Koch has finished off his last three opponents with strikes, and will look to make it four in a row when he faces the TUF 12 champion in September.
The bout between Brookins and Koch is expected to be a featured bout on the night’s main card.
