Jon ‘Bones’ Jones Signs Deal with Nike

Jon Jones UFC
Jon ‘Bones’ Jones will join athletes like LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Derek Jeter when as he signs on to become part of the Nike family, securing a sponsorship deal with the company as announced on Wednesday.

The deal will place Jones in a worldwide marketing campaign with Nike covering their vast empire of shoes, shirts, and other apparel.

“Blessed to be signed by the biggest sports apparel company in the world Nike,” wrote Jones on his Twitter account on Wednesday. “Dreams do come true.”

Jones and his manager Malki Kawa had met with Nike executives previously during a drip to Oregon, but only this week did the deal become official.

The UFC’s light heavyweight champion also confirmed via Twitter that he will have his own signature line of apparel akin to other Nike athletes like LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers forward Kobe Bryant.

The signature line of products generally includes a shoe line, t-shirts and other varios sports apparel. Nike already produces a signature boxing line, so it may not be out of the question to imagine Jones having his own MMA gear produced specifically by the Oregon-based company.

Nike is expected to make an announcement about the deal in the coming days, including details regarding Jones’ role as a Nike endorsed athlete.

According to Forbes Magazine, the Nike brand is the most valuable among sports businesses with a value of over $10.7 billion.

Jones joins other high profile UFC athletes such as Georges St-Pierre, who has appeared in major marketing ads for brands like Under Armour and Gatorade in the past.

The news of Jones’ signing to the Nike deal was first reported by MMAFighting.com.
