John Lineker, Two Other UFC Portland Fighters Miss the Mark at Official Early Weigh-in | MMAWeekly.com

UFC Fight Night 96: Lineker vs. Dodson is set following Friday’s official weigh-ins in Portland, Ore.

It has been seven years since the UFC visited Portland, but the promotion is bringing a couple high-profile fights to top the bill. Unfortunately, one of the fighters in the co-main event seriously flubbed the weigh-in.

The headliner features top UFC bantamweights John Lineker and John Dodson going head to head in what promises to be an exciting battle between two fighters that like to throw down.

Lineker had many issues making weight when he was fighting in the flyweight class, but has performed well since returning to bantamweight. He unfortunately missed the mark on Friday, weighing in at 136.5 pounds, 0.5 pounds over the limit for a non-title fight. Dodson never has trouble on the scale, weighing 135 pounds.

Lineker will have to forfeit 20 percent of his show money to Dodson, but the fight will go on. This was the fifth time in his UFC tenure that Lineker has missed weight, although it is the first time since he returned to bantamweight that he has failed on the scale.

Alex Oliveira, who is set to face former Bellator champion Will Brooks, missed the 156-pound lightweight cutoff by a whoppping 5.5 pounds. He stepped on the scale at 161.5 pounds, leading Brooks to rail on him and call him “unprofessional.”

After making weight at 156 pounds, Brooks will receive 20 percent of Oliveira’s show money, which he tweeted would go to his daughter’s college fund.

Lineker and Oliveira weren’t the only ones having trouble with the scale.

Featherweight prelim fighter Hacran Dias also missed the mark, weighing in at 148.5 pounds, which is 2.5 pounds over the non-title fight limit. His opponent, Andre Fili, after weighing 146 pounds, will receive 20-percent of Dias’ show money.
