Two veteran welterweights will make one last push for a spot in the 170-pound pecking order.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has an interesting welterweight battle brewing for its upcoming UFC Fight Night 45 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, scheduled for July 16, 2014, inside Revel Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, airing on Fight Pass and FOX Sports 1.

John Howard vs. Rick Story.

Howard (22-9) returned to the Octagon last August, when he upset The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) apple cart by spoiling the debut of Uriah Hall. "Doomsday" followed that up with another gritty performance against Siyar Bahadurzada, but was unable to score the hat trick when Ryan LaFlare upended him last month in Abu Dhabi.

Rebound!

Story (16-8) is also looking to get back into the win column after a razor-thin split decision loss to TUF wunderkind Kelvin Gastelum. "The Horror" has been trading wins and losses as far back as 2012 and currently stands at 3-3 across his last six and has just one finish in nearly four years.

Time to go for broke.

UFC Fight Night 45 will be headlined by an electric lightweight slobberknocker pitting Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone against hometown hero Jim Miller. Elsewhere on the card, John Lineker collides with Alptekin Ozkilic, while Aljamain Sterling throws hands opposite Hugo Viana.
