Jim Wallhead Tapping into His Inner Aggression Heading into BAMMA UK Bout

Jim WallheadIt seems that whenever he has gained any momentum over the last couple of years, former Bellator welterweight “Judo” Jim Wallhead loses it almost as quickly.

Following an eight-fight winning streak, Wallhead has pretty much alternated wins and losses of late and was in search of something to set himself right.

“Yeah, it has been (a rollercoaster of late),” Wallhead told MMAWeekly.com. “I’ve just been struggling to get everything right.

“I think the loss to Eddie (Ellis at BAMMA UK 14 in September) is what I needed to get everything right mentally and find my inner aggression again.”

Wallhead feels that his close welterweight championship split-decision loss to Ellis came because he did not push the action as much as he should have.

“I think I won the fight,” he said. “I performed well technically, but the pressure of the title made me too hesitant and took that killer instinct away. It won’t happen again.”

Wallhead (24-8) will look to get back on track at BAMMA UK’s event on Dec. 14 in Birmingham, England, when he takes on promotional newcomer Florent Betorangal (14-8).

“I think it’s a tough fight and to win I must expand my game and I must be the old aggressive Jimmy,” said Wallhead of the fight.

After having gone through a rough stretch of late, Wallhead is looking to gain consistency again one fight at a time and not look too far ahead of himself.

“I have no (long term goals) at the minute,” said Wallhead. “The only thing in my mind is BAMMA UK 14. That’s all that matters right now.

“I hope fans tune in to BAMMA UK 14. It’s proper stacked and I know it’s going to be a night to remember.”
