Jeff Smith replaces Chris Gruetzemacher, meets Jerrod Sanders at WSOF 3

Just a couple weeks after Chris Gruetzemacher joined the World Series of Fighting 3 card, he’s off the show.

An injury has knocked Gruetzemacher (11-1) off the card, and Jeff Smith (10-1) will step in to fight Jerrod Sanders (11-1) next month in Las Vegas.

Promotion officials on recently announced the new featherweight fight booking for WSOF 3, which takes place June 14 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The main card airs on NBC Sports Network. The main event is a welterweight bout between former UFC title challenger Jon Fitch and fellow UFC vet Josh Burkman.

Smith has won 10 straight fights, including seven submissions. The lone loss of his professional career came in his August 2009 debut. The 25-year-old Florida native most recently fought in July 2012, picking up a unanimous decision victory over D’juan Owens.

Sanders has won nine straight with six by stoppage. He went 4-0 in 2012 with three stoppages, but he didn’t fight after July of this past year. The lone loss of Sanders’ career came to Jeremy Spoon at Bellator 37.

Gruetzemacher is on a 10-fight win streak, including eight finishes, but he’ll have to put his quest for No. 11 on hold. He hasn’t lost in more than four years, including a Strikeforce Challengers TKO win over Ryan Diaz in August 2010. In 2012, he picked up wins over WEC vet Frank Gomez and UFC and Bellator vet Roli Delgado, both by TKO.

With the new fight booking, the latest WSOF 3 card now includes:
