Jamie Varner WEC 46One of the most anticipated fights of the TUF 16 finale card will not go on after Jamie Varner came down with an illness earlier tonight.

According to Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer, Varner was vomiting in the back as he prepared for his scheduled bout against Melvin Guillard, and due to the sickness he will be unable to fight.

Varner made weight without incident on Friday, but apparently came down with a bug overnight and was sick on Saturday.

Unfortunately the illness was bad enough to cause Varner to be pulled from tonight’s card and his fight with Melvin Guillard had to be cancelled.

UFC officials confirmed that Guillard and Varner will be paid their show money for the fight.

A third fight between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn never made much sense.
Less and less so every second they actually spent together in the cage.
Edgar was declared the winner on Sunday after three miserable rounds of lopsided action, but even he didn’t feel much like celebrating. He’d battered and humiliated the fan-favorite Penn en route to a TKO in the main event of the TUF 19 live finale, and he understood it brought a melancholy end to a weekend of UFC events on back-to-back nights. “It’s a bi more
