After finishing Jason Gilliam in the UFC and stopping Sherron Leggett in the WEC in consecutive bouts, Jamie Varner was next in line for a chance at the WEC Lightweight Title held by “Razor” Rob McCullough. The bout was scheduled for February 13, 2008 at WEC 32 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and an eager Varner was ready to stand and trade with the champion.
