Jake Ellenberger UFC 126On a six-fight winning streak topped off with wins over Jake Shields and Diego Sanchez, it would seem almost a given that Jake Ellenberger’s next fight should be a shot at UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

The division, however, is clogged with contenders, from interim champion Carlos Condit to Johny Hendricks to Ellenberger and his Ultimate Fighter Live Finale headlining opponent Martin Kampmann.

Despite that fact, Ellenberger isn’t looking past Kampmann. He knows that to do so would be foolish.

“He’s always dangerous, someone I can’t look past at all,” said Ellenberger in a recent interview on UFC Ultimate Insider.

In fact, Ellenberger sees Kampmann as an opportunity to prove, once again, that he does belong at the top of the list of contenders.

“I’m a big believer that actions speak louder than words. I’ve got to prove that I’m even a contender for that title.”

He’d get little argument from most people, but if he defeats Kampmann, it would be difficult for anyone to deny that Ellenberger has earned his shot.
