A former UFC lightweight title challenger, Sanchez tipped the scales at 170 pounds prior to Wednesday’s UFC on Fuel 1 event, which takes place at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Neb. Sanchez has won back-to-back contests since returning to Jackson’s MMA, notching hard-fought wins over Paulo Thiago and Martin Kampmann in a pair of “Fight of the Night”performances.
Meanwhile, Ellenberger also weighed in at 170 pounds before his welterweight showdown with “The Dream.” A veteran of Bellator and M-1 Global competition, “The Juggernaut” has won nine of his last 10 fights. After suffering a contentious split-decision defeat to Carlos Condit in his UFC debut, Ellenberger, 26, has been perfect in the Octagon, besting Mike Pyle, John Howard, Carlos Eduardo Rocha, Sean Pierson and, most recently, former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields.
Heavyweights Stefan Struve (256) and Dave Herman (234) were also cleared for their co-headlining attraction, as were middleweights Aaron Simpson (186) and Ronny Markes (185). The main draw will also showcase the sophomore effort of heavyweight prospect Stipe Miocic (240), as the American squares off with British submission ace Philip De Fries (241). Rounding out the Fuel TV broadcast will be a pair of bantamweight matchups pitting T.J. Dillashaw (136) against Walel Watson (135) and Ivan Menjivar (135) against John Albert (135).
