If UFC workouts are indication, Machida to play matador to Dollaway's bull

SAO PAULO, Brazil – UFC Fight Night 58 headliners Lyoto Machida (21-5 MMA, 13-5 UFC) and C.B. Dollaway (15-5 MMA, 9-5 UFC) took a very different approach to today’s open workout sessions. And if the public displays are any indication, a tranquil Machida will be looking to parry the aggressive attacks of a ferocious Dollaway.

The two middleweights meet on Saturday in the headlining bout of “UFC Fight Night 58: Machida vs. Dollaway,” which takes place at Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Today, the two were featured at an open workout session at Sao Paulo’s Allianz Parque, a prospective venue to host future UFC events, with both fans and media in attendance.

Machida, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, took a measured approach to his time in the spotlight, displaying his signature footwork and karate-based attacks. “The Dragon” appeared loose and relaxed, smiling and waving to fans and even briefly partaking in a bit of soccer practice with former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao.

However, Dollaway was all business, and he flashed his ever-improving boxing techniques during a few aggressive attacks on the focus mitts. As the music that played in the arena lowered toward the end of his workout, Dollaway’s rapid-fire shots echoed through the venue.
